Of all the things we want to say goodbye to…
Soda may not be one of them. Okay, we do, to be honest, but it sure is one of the hardest things to do.
Soda tastes excellent, deceivingly so. It is hard to say no to even when we want to. But would you believe you can say goodbye to it for good? Yes, you read it right.
We know you are dying to know so this is how:
Choose your sweets
Soda is full of sugar, and it is one of the reasons why it is addictive. The best thing you can do to lessen the cravings is to make smarter choices when it comes to your sweets. For example, instead of going for processed foods, have apples and bananas. These are fruits which are naturally sweet, and it will help you alleviate your cravings. You will still have your sugar but the healthy way.
Take it one day at a time
Don’t look ahead, just take it one day at a time. Don’t overwhelm yourself thinking a week is too long and a month is seemingly forever. You will be more tempted to grab a bottle if you pressure yourself into committing long term right away instead of just living the moment and making sure you don’t give in on a day to day basis.
If the point is to quench the thirst, drink plenty of water whenever you feel the urge to head to the vending machine. Better yet, make it a habit of drinking a glass of water the moment you wake up and also before you eat. This way, you are not only meeting the suggested amount of water to be consumed each day, but you are also avoiding having to drink soda and overeating. If that is not a winning outcome, we don’t know what is.
Eating right is one way to avoid drinking soda for good. When you are full, you will have no cravings and certainly, have no reason to drink soda. We say no reason because when you are not hungry, you will not make an effort to find junk foods either.
No artificial sugar
Nature naturally sweetens some foods, and they are better for health. Artificial sugar goes through more processing than regular sugar. Avoid it. While at it, do not overdo your sugar consumption either. The goal is to avoid soda and to minimize the need to eat food laden with sugar as well.
See? It is not that hard after all. You may miss soda, but it doesn’t mean you would want to get back to drinking it nonstop.
