Rejection, the word we all dread.
Regardless of the reason, it is a valid one. Rejection has a way of unbalancing the scale of life and often, not in our favor. Other times, however, it propels us in a different direction, and we land in a place where we are meant to be.
Here are four ways to handle rejection like you never have before:
Embrace each “NO.”
No doesn’t mean you are a failure. It only means it isn’t the right time for whatever it is you are aiming for. Either that, or it is not meant for you. It may not be easy to swallow at first but do your best to embrace each rejection as an opportunity to try something else, something better. Haven’t you ever been glad some things didn’t work out? Think about that!
Face what scares you.
A lot of things in life are scary, and you have gone through a lot of them already. But look at you, still standing and fighting. Do exactly what scares you. For example, I am scared of parties and gatherings. I even hide when we have a party at home, small as it is maybe. Imagine how I’d feel when it’s a company gathering. What did I do? I learned to look forward to parties and attended as many of them as I could. I was not as confident as I thought I could be, my knees were shaking and I felt exposed, but I realized, in the end, that it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It was just the beginning. I got over it, and now, I feel ready for anything. So go ahead, face whatever scares you and you will get out of it, alive, able, and more confident.
Don’t take everything seriously.
Laugh at your mistakes and laugh at yourself. Find humor in everything you do, whether things go your way or not. When you do this, it is a lot easier to deal with rejection because you always look at the bright side. Take your wins with laughter and take your losses with laughter. Life is easier that way.
Act now, not later. When you are busy taking actions, you don’t have time to dwell with rejection. If anything, it would inspire you to take risks and with risks come bigger rewards.
Remember; don’t let anything get in your way. No matter how many rejections you get, you are stronger so long as you don’t give up. After all, your dreams and goals in life are always worth fighting for.
