Happy employees, happy business!
Some employers go out of their way to make employees happy, while others don’t care how their staff feels, forgetting that the people working for him/her are the key to making a business a huge success or a total failure.
Nobody plans to put up a business and expect to fail. Everyone wants to succeed and one of the important things to consider, aside from budget, planning and everything else that comes with it, is to hire good and loyal employees. But how do you keep them? How do you develop their potential to your business’ advantage? How do you make them happy to keep working for you?
If you want to keep your employees happy and motivated, you may want to consider doing the following:
- Appreciate their hard work.
Has your team exceeded their quota, working hours, effort? Commend them for it. Sometimes, a simple pat on the back does the trick and other times, a trip to someplace nice or a simple dinner will do. It will show that you acknowledge the effort and talent they are putting on.
It is not enough that you give them a task. You have to remind them what they are doing it for, how much it will help them grow professionally and personally, as well as aid the growth of the business and the company in general and how much their contribution means to the overall goal.
- Be patient and understanding.
People make mistakes and employees are no exceptions. A person can do his best and still make a huge mistake. Let it be a learning experience for everyone but make sure you firmly lay the rules lest your kindness be mistaken for weakness.
There are many ways to make your employees happy. If what we have suggested above doesn’t work, go back to basics. You know your employees well (or at least you have a general idea on what they would appreciate the most), use it to create a happy, healthy and fair environment in the workplace.
