“Put your body first.” – Catherine Piot
Is it one of your goals?
To be healthy? If your answer is yes, then you are not alone. Everybody wants the same thing. Everyone is aware of the importance of health and staying healthy. Unfortunately, most times, that is where it ends. Not everyone is willing to do the work to make it happen.
Time and again, we say that it can be hard or complicated, but we also say it doesn’t have to be. Being healthy can be as easy and straightforward as we want to be.
When we say it is simple, it is. To be healthy and stay healthy, you have to put your body first above all else. As they say, we only got one, hence the need to take care of it to the best of our abilities.
How do we do it? By making sure the following are part of the daily habits:
Choose your food well. You don’t have to restrict yourself. In fact, you can still eat what you want but do not forget that your body needs enough nutrients to function well and be healthy. Deprivation is not the answer, moderation is.
Get enough sleep each night. This is important and something that should not be taken for granted. When you sleep well, you help lessens the risks of heart-related diseases. Moreover, you give your body the energy it needs to survive the daily grind and still have more energy left at the end of the day.
Drinking plenty of water
Bottomless? Don’t make it soda or beer. Make it water. Drink as much water as you can. Do it first thing in the morning and before each meal. You can also grab a glass instead of a soda in between meals. Your body will thank you for it.
There will always be things beyond our control. Don’t stress on them and focus on the things you have control over and can do something about. The less stressed you are, the healthier and happier you will be and we will not say no to that. Besides, stressing less is good for the body and mind.
Being gentle with oneself
You will make mistakes, get tired or eat that extra serving of ice cream. Don’t hate yourself for it. Be gentle with yourself and try again. You know you are doing your best and that is enough.
It is not easy for everybody, but everybody can give it a good try. A healthy body is what we deserve.
