Motivation is like a plant.
You have to water it to keep it alive and powerful. Sometimes, however, no matter how hard we try, motivation depletes, and we feel like we can’t do anything not for lack of trying but for lack of willpower.
But what can we do to make sure we are powerfully motivated every single day? Try these neat tricks, and you won’t have motivation problem again.
- Make sure you have clear goals and intentions.
When your goals and intentions are clear, it is easier to do what you intend to do. You go on your day with clarity as to what needs to be done, how you would want to accomplish it and what you can do when faced with an obstacle along the way.
- Have enough sleep.
Getting enough sleep is a major deal breaker when it comes to your motivation. For example, whenever I have a decent amount of sleep, I wake up the next day bright and sunny, ready to face anything. You know that feeling when there is nothing, and no one can dampen your day? That’s how it is when you get a good sleep. When this happens, your motivation is amplified.
- Consider minimizing distractions.
We know, it is easier said than done but if you have a clear plan and intention, this one is going to be a walk in the park. Too much time spent on Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest? They are definitely distractions. Discipline yourself. A few minutes at night or in the morning would be enough to catch up, right? For example, while I still check IG before I go to bed, I am done within 10 minutes then I go to sleep.
- Value your time and make sure others do, too.
Time is precious and for someone who has big dreams and aspirations in life, you don’t need to be told about this. Sometimes, however, you forget and you focus on things that are not worthwhile to your cause. Worse, you let others do the same. When you respect your time, others have no choice but to follow.
