What kind of smart are you?
There are those who are labeled as smart and there are those who are street smart. In this article, we will consider them under one category: smart people.
Smart people are the ones admired the most, sought after, successful. It does not matter whether one has performed well in school or not, if he improves his life and succeeds in what he does, he is a smart person.
We must admit that at some point, we wished that we are as smart as the next guy but then we have realized as days go by (and as we age), we are all different kind of smarts, regardless of what other people think of you, of us.
How can you tell when a person is smart? Here are the signs:
He is not an attention seeker
Attention is not sought, it is given where it is deserved, and sometimes, where it is needed. A smart person is aware of this and the fact that seeking attention is a waste of time and does not help with one’s progress and productivity.
He does not judge
We are all created equal and presented with different opportunities. A smart person does not judge by what his mere eyes can see and what his ears can hear. Why? He is a firm believer that he can only truly judge another when he has walked in his shoes and has gone through the same thing, and the truth is, perhaps not even then.
He is happy and positive
Life and career are not perfect but a smart person remains happy and positive. He knows that challenges are meant to help him improve and learn to be better. No matter what life throws at him, he find reasons to be happy and he always hopes for the best because it all works out in the end.
He is kind
He is not proud. What he is, is a kind person who extends a hand when needed and never hesitates to initiate goodwill. He understands that we are all the same, seeking for what is better and doing everything we can to have a good life. He also encourages others to follow their dreams and pursue their passions.
He respects others
Respect begets respect, they say. This is true in many ways but a smart person makes a choice to respect everyone because he knows each one of us deserves it. Respect is earned and while this may be a fact, it does not mean it cannot be given wholeheartedly and freely.
To sum it up, a person who is smart is a kind and decent one because part of his upbringing is not only working hard and achieving great things, but more importantly, treating others well.
