They say emotions are rather fleeting. Based on experienced, we know it to be true. Sometimes, we feel that we could cry for joy, the next moment, we would forget about such feelings and feel entirely different.
But of all such fleeting feelings, it seems being unhappy sticks the most, doesn’t it? It gnaws our hearts; it darkens our mind, it could almost stop our world.
But fret not. If you follow these seven tips, you would be able to zap melancholy in no time whatever the reason of your sadness maybe!
Zap trick #1: Stop complaining.
When we start to complain, everything good is tarnished by negativity. Sure, we can complain about something, anything, but to what end? It will surely not change anything and will not alter the situation, except perhaps make it worse. On the other hand, if we learn to practice gratitude and appreciate every little thing, we always have a reason to be happy.
Zap trick #2: Stop entertaining the past.
Yes, we all know the terrible thing we have gone through, how we failed or how our heart got broken, but remember, we are still here, now. We have learned the lessons life was trying to teach us. We are better. It’s time to leave the past and be present. Nothing creates greater sadness than living in what ifs and could haves.
Zap trick #3: Stop transporting into the future.
As mentioned above, be present. It is alright to prepare for the future but worrying about it too much only causes stress and unhappiness. Enjoy life today. Have fun. Do whatever it is that makes you happy. When you do this, you are doing your future self a favor. But don’t live in the future. Be here, now, and make the most of out it.
Zap trick #4: Stop living in fear.
Sure, we all have something to worry or fear about, but you see, in most cases, it is only that, fear. We give life to our fear and what happens is that we are paralyzed by it, making us unhappy for no reason. Whereas, if we forget about our fear and learn to take risks, to let things be, we would be free to do whatever we want to do and take life in a stride, as we should.
Zap trick #5: Stop nonsense tattle.
Indeed. Gossiping, story-telling that doesn’t do anybody good is a typical cause of unhappiness. We all have different stories to tell and something other people talk about. It doesn’t make it true. Most of the time, it is undeserved. Do not join the bandwagon of gossipers. Mind your own business and don’t complicate your life with matters that do not concern you. When you do, it would certainly lead to unhappiness, which you don’t deserve. Really.
Zap trick #6: Stop negative self-talk.
You are worthy. You are enough. You matter. Don’t forget all these things just because you are having a bad day. Life isn’t dictated by the things that happen to you, rather, it is steered by how you react to what’s going on. Don’t lie and say you are ugly. You are not. Remember, we are all uniquely beautiful. Appreciate who you are and stay you.
Zap trick #7: Stop holding grudges.
This one goes deep. What happened has happened. We cannot do anything about it anymore. Forgive whoever it was, for your sake. They say that when you hold a grudge and hate, it is like drinking a poison hoping the other person will die. You are doing yourself a disservice when you don’t let go of the past. For all you know, the other person has already forgotten what happened and yet here you’re, still dwelling on it. Release hate, and you will be happier than ever.
